My formal education in Psychology started over 15 years ago. Following graduation from University College Dublin, Ireland, with a first class honours degree in Psychology, I pursued further study at King’s College London, studying the Philosophy of Mental Disorder. Subsequent to a period of conducting medical and psychological research at University College London, I returned to my alma mater (Kings College London) and completed my doctoral training (in Clinical Psychology) there, at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neurosciences.

I am since registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (registration number: PYL32594) and am a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society as well as the BPS Division of Clinical Psychology (registration number: 439655).

Over the past 10 years I have worked in primary and secondary mental health care services in the NHS, treating mental health difficulties across the spectrum of severity, going on to focus/specialise in working with problems characterised by emotion dysregulation and trauma. In addition, I have pursued research into the role played by life adversity (and trauma memories) in the onset and maintenance of mental health struggles. I also spent a period at University College London as a Teaching Fellow, delivering specialist teaching to NHS workers delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy interventions in the NHS. Since qualifying I have received specialist training in a number of additional therapies/areas including:

Outside of my clinical work (but no doubt influencing it) I have an interest in the Arts, Literature and Philosophy.
